Online Information SIG Manager Information 1. Briefly describe the purpose of the SIG and your role. The scope of the Online SIG encompases all aspects of publishing documentation for viewing in online formats such as PDF, HTML, WinHelp, and XML. Discussion topics can include basic talks on these online formats, design strategies for good online usability, managing single-source publishing, and software tools used in online publishing. As manager for the SIG, my role is to organize and monitor the monthly meetings. 2. How many hours of your time per month does your role require? This varies, but on average probably around 8 hours per month. 3. Where do you typically meet? Not sure yet. The first meeting is in Beaverton at the Greenwood Inn, but future meetings will likely be much smaller than this and meet elsewhere--perhaps in downtown Portland. 4. Who do you contact at this location to make arrangements? I talked with Mary Sutton at the Greenwood Inn. 5. How far in advance do you call to arrange meeting facilities? 2-3 weeks. 6. Do you provide refreshments for the meetings? If so, what? Yes. Snacks and iced tea/coffee/water. 7. What is the meeting charge for STC members and non-members? June meeting is $8 for members, $12 for non-members. Future meetings will likely be cheaper. 8. When do you meet? (i.e., 3rd Tues. of each month; no July/August/December meetings) Last Monday of each month. Probably no August meeting. 9. Who are the last 3 managers of this SIG? I haven't even had my first meeting yet, so this is yet to be determined. 12. Which meeting topics have been especially popular?
