STC admin minutes June 26, 2002 Present: Patti Loverink, Kymm Nelsen, Rachel Houghton, Dave Grassmann, Jeff Jansen, Kathee Kuvinka, Patrice Dodd, Theresa Shelton, Ken Miller, Christy Graunke Treasurer's report: current balance is $16,540.40. We expect to get less dues from national next year due to a rate restructuring. Need to look into whether our reports need to be audited. SIG reports: It seems the SIGs are struggling a little bit this year--might drop June meeting next year due to low attendance. Senior Advisory Panel (SAP) includes Tonya Varga, Sandy Keen, Russell Pike, Jean Richardson, Patti Loverink, Dick Miller. Will provide input on programs (we have had some comments that too many of this year's programs were job-search oriented), newsletter, and seminars. The SAP will meet with the officers three times per year, and will be introduced at the fall senior breakfast. They may also be involved in the new member orientation. Other resources we need to let members know about are the resources at stc.org (international website) and stcwvc.org (chapter website). Program meetings: survey not out yet. We may meet at the Greenwood for the first half of the year and move the meetings after December. Rachel is working on bringing in Richard Lederer for the September program on "Conan the Grammarian" or "Attila the Pun." The meeting will most likely take place at PSU (ballroom capacity 300), and we'll also need a Friday workshop. We're trying to get the student chapter involved as we may need extra hospitality volunteers. Possible audiences for the meeting and workshop include Toastmasters, Willamette Writers, NPR, English faculty, Self-Employed Creative Professionals. We may also do a newspaper ad to get the word out. We may also need to find out if it's okay for Richard Lederer to sell his books at the event, and for us to publicize that. Publicity: Patrice is the new PR manager. Welcome, Patrice! We discussed announcing the admin meetings on the WVCANNOUNCE list. Strategic planning: Dave handed out a summary of what we have done so far and the tasks left to complete, such as the vision statement and goals. Dave suggested we take the summer to think about these things, and then hold two more meetings to decide which goals are most important. Next admin meeting: August 22nd. ---
