XMetaL for Technical Writers

XMetaL for Tech Writers is a three-day course that provides the basic knowledge required to configure and implement Soft Quad XMetaL, including basic customization techniques for any DTD. You begin by using XMetaL out of the box with a simple DTD and work up to creating a complete authoring environment. This course provides some basic XML instruction with an emphasis on sytax, elements as containers, the tree structure of a well-formed XML document, and the role and provenance of the DTD. PREREQUISITE(s) to this course: some experience with structured documents or markup languages, such as HTML, SGML or XML.
