This issue grew exponentially. In lieu of the ability to include an article on every topic, here are some extra resources that surfaced in recent and various conversations and programs.

Job Descriptions and Salaries

• Salary.com has detailed, up-to-date information on a wide variety of technical communications positions.
• STC members may view the STC Annual Salary Survey. Have your member number handy.
• A good old standby is the Occupational Outlook Handbook from the U.S. Department of Labor. This link goes to the heading “Writers and Editors,” under which you will find technical writers.

Job Listings

• Local Employment and Education pages on our own chapter’s web site contain information on local contract and temporary agencies, and educational programs both online and on campus.
• Take a look at other STC chapters’ job listing pages at http://www.stcrmc.org/resources/resource_jobsearch_chapter_pages.htm.
• STC members may visit the STC.org Jobs Database for additional technical communications job listings.
• Get connected to the WVCJOBS listing. Receive e-mails of local job postings by submitting your information to: http://www.stcwvc.org/employment/jobs_mem.htm. Free for STC members. Non-members can subscribe, too ($50.00 for a one-year subscription).

• Check out the Oregon Graduate Institute’s free seminar series, held every Tuesday and Thursday.
• PCC has a similar set of seminars through the Capital Career Center each Thursday. You will find a number of them listed on the Job Fair List maintained by the State of Oregon Employment Division.
