President's Message

Wow! We are now into the second month of the year 2004. New year, new budgets, new jobs. More jobs came through the WVCJOBS list in the month of January than in November and December combined. I'm hoping this trend continues!

Local competition judges and entrants celebrated the award winners at the Competition Awards Banquet. Look in this issue for a list of the Distinguished, Excellence, and Merit winners. Results from the International competition will not be available until March, so look in the upcoming April issue for information on how our local Distinguished entrants placed.

Please consider renewing your STC membership an investment in your future. STC continues to provide valuable benefits to our members--such as the jobs database, Intercom, Technical Communication, and conferences and seminars at reduced rates .

We always have volunteer opportunities available in the chapter. Please let Mairi-Kate Campbell, our Volunteer Coordinator, know if you are interested in volunteering at volunteer@stcwvc.org.

Employment Manager Kellie Pierce is still working on getting more submissions to our jobs list from area companies and employment agencies. If your company has openings and you know you haven't seen them listed in any announcement from the jobs list, please have your human resources department contact Kellie at piercekellie@hotmail.com .

The Chapter Business Meeting is held the 4th Thursday of every month. The next two meetings are Thursday, February 26 and March 25. The elected officers, committee managers, and SIG managers attend this meeting to keep the chapter on track and running smoothly.
