Letter from the Editor

This issue contains many helpful articles and reviews. Jennifer Sohn gives pointers on creating Powerpoint presentations with punch in Powerpoint and the Technical Presentation, and Kristy Schnabel's article Writing for the Web gives some basics on writing content for the Web. Read the outcome (Part 3) of Bill Harrison's series on using technical manuals as marketing material. Also check out my article The Case Made, tying in the topic of the April Program Meeting, Building a Business Case for Technical Communication; in this article you'll read a first-hand account of how a documentation team saw the need for its own (permanent) existence and successfully built a case for it.

Reviews in this issue include a review on the new edition of the Chicago Manual of Style, and both the February and March program meetings.

As always, the WordPlay, Take Our Word for It, and president's columns round out this issue.

The Willamette Galley needs your writing skills and input! If you're interested in writing an article or review on any topic related to technical communication for the STC-WVC newsletter, be sure to come to the next newsletter volunteer meeting on Tuesday, 4/20 @ 6pm, at Chili's. (Address is 12025 SW Canyon Rd Beaverton OR. Directions from Beaverton TC Max: walk .1 mile southeast to restaurant.) The deadline for articles for the June issue is May 1.
