Letter from the Editor

from Robin Schuckmann

I enjoyed putting together this issue on Technical Editing and Newsletter Design. So often we forget the importance of editing and design in the technical communications field. Yet, without effective visual design to grasp the reader's attention will anybody ever pick up your document to read it? And without proper editing to make the document clear, concise, and consistent will the reader be able to finish reading the document without stumbling over poor grammar? I hope you enjoy the editing and design articles presented to you in this issue of the Willamette Galley.

We have a great issue for you coming up next on Tools. Tools of the Trade. Indexing Tools. Editing Tools. Design Tools. Writing Tools. Do you have a favorite tool that you'd like to share? Do you want to warn others about a new tool to stay away from? Have you been procrastinating upgrading your technology, but know that it's inevitable? Share your experiences with others by submitting an article for our next edition of the Willamette Galley. Article submission deadline is June 15. Are you ready to volunteer?

There's always room for your article too! Do you have an article that you'd like to publish in the Willamette Galley newsletter? Or would you like to contribute, but aren't sure what to write about? Volunteers are always welcome! Whether you're a student just getting into technical communications or a senior member with lots of experience, there are always volunteer opportunities available. Please feel free to contact Robin Schuckmann at print.media@verizon.net
