WVC Volunteer Opportunities

Calling all Volunteers!

WVC is active and exciting, and you help keep it that way! Volunteering helps you meet the doers and shakers in the chapter and gives you new skills to highlight on your resume.

The following volunteer opportunities offer long-term, short-term or one-time-only commitments. Review the descriptions and then contact our outgoing Volunteer Coordinator, Barbara Houser at stcwvc@barbarahouser.com to sign up!

WVC Competition Judges
Are you looking for a way to get more involved in our chapter? Do you want to beef up your résumé with more community service? Do you wonder what types of technical communication your colleagues develop (and how your own measures up)? Are you interested in innovations in technical communication?

If you answered “yes” to any of these questions, please consider serving as a volunteer judge in one of the following Willamette Valley competitions. See the Call For Judges for more information. Judge Information Forms must be received in October of each year.

Newsletter Contributors
Want to see your name in print? The Willamette Galley editor is looking for interesting articles every month, and you can be published with a byline by sending her an article via email. It's that simple! Your article might be a book review, an interview, a critique of a class you've taken, a summary of a conference you've attended, or any number of wide-ranging topics communicators would find interesting.

We need regular columns with new-member profiles, news about members moving up and changing jobs, summaries of the monthly meetings, the latest about changing technologies, and stories about good writing.

Contact one of our co-editors, Valerie M. Ball or Carol Larson, for more information about guidelines and formats. Deadlines for submission are two weeks prior to the publication date.
