Message from President, Carol Larson

Happy New Year, everyone!

As we begin the New Year, STC’s membership drive is in progress. An STC membership offers many benefits:

  • Advocacy for the profession
  • Educational webinars
  • Certification
  • Connections to a vast number of national and international colleagues
  • But for me, the greatest value of membership comes at the local level by attending program meetings and special events to:

  • Learn about new areas/topics from local experts
  • View the work done by other technical communicators
  • Network
  • Celebrate professional achievements with friends and colleagues

  • The official membership renewal deadline is December 31, 2011. However, STC allows people to join or renew their memberships throughout the year and will prorate the fees.

For students moving into the professional membership levels, STC created the “New Technical Communication Professional” level to encourage new technical communicators to join and become involved in STC.

In order to vote in the STC 2012 election, new memberships and renewals must be completed by February 29, 2012. (By the way, STC Fellow and WVC Senior Member, John Hedtke, is on the ballot running for a position on the STC Nominating Committee.)
Join or renew your membership on the STC website at Membership.

In the international STC community, the WVC represents you and works to provide value for you. We look to our new and renewing members to add vitality for the future of the WVC. You are the life of the chapter—THANK YOU!

Wishing you a happy and prosperous 2012!

    Carol
