Here in the Willamette Valley, we have a number of programs that address the professional needs of technical communicators. For graduate studies, check out the Center for Excellence in Writing at Portland State University. You will also find undergraduate courses, such as Intro to Technical Writing, in the PSU English Department.

Washington State University offers technical writing courses at its Vancouver campus. Check out their Professional Writing Certificate.

Marylhurst University offers a writing degree in conjunction with their literature curriculum. The link is English Literature and Writing.

Reed College has long been known for stressing writing skills throughout its curriculum. The strong English department is here: Reed English Department.

The Department of Technical Communication at the University of Washington (UW) in Seattle is far away via I-5, but this is a dynamic department that offers online courses and lectures. Click here for more information.

Portland Community College offers a wide variety of writing courses, including technical writing.

Clark College in Vancouver, Washington has a strong English department and offers technical writing courses.

CSU Dominguez Hills offers online technical writing courses for undergraduates. Texas Tech University offers an online Ph.D. in Communication and Rhetoric.

Online-learning.com offers online courses for professional development. They specialize in courses dealing with Technical Writing, XML Authoring, Usability, and Information Design. All courses provide extensive instructor support, interaction, practical hands on experience, and certification. All members of the STC will receive a 15% discount from online-learning.com upon registration in any of their courses. For further information, contact info@online-learning.com.
